Patticha Meen (fish and grated coconut)


1/2 kg fish (cod)

1/2 tsp tsp methe powder

1-11/2 tsp salt

5-6 Kodam puli (Kokkam)

11/2 tbsp coconut oil

2 sprigs curry leaves

2 cups water

Grind coarsely together

2 onions

11/2 cube ginger

10 cloves garlic

4-5 green chillies

3-4 red chillies

2 cups grated coconut


Wash and cut the fish into 1 cm cubes. Soak Kodam puli with salt in 1 cup warm water and tear into small pieces. Mix coarsely ground paste with fish arrange half the kodam puli with some curry leaves and place the fish mixture over it , Now place the rest of the Kodam puli over it with few more curry leaves and pour the water with which the kodam puli was soaked and add the rest of the water and sprinkle methe powder and bring to boil rapidly. Now pour the coconut oil over it and cook till all the water is absorbed.
